Vietnam Airlines Receives New Airbus A320neo Aircraft to Serve Summer Peak Season

Vietnam Airlines has taken delivery of the newest member to its fleet, the Airbus A320neo – the first of three A320neos the airline will receive this year, and an important addition given global aircraft shortages due to engine recalls.

The modern narrow-body Airbus A320neo features next-generation engines, significantly resulting in 16 per cent fuel savings, 75 per cent noise reduction, and 50 per cent lower emissions compared to previous-generation aircraft.

This aircraft has 182 seats and is configured in a two-class layout, with eight Business Class seats and 174 Economy Class seats, complemented by comfortable upholstery; 28-29-inch seat pitch and five-inch recline; and amenities such as a wireless IFE system. These cabin enhancements will offer an improved passenger experience while retaining a strong commitment to environmental protection.

The introduction of the Airbus A320neo reaffirms Vietnam Airlines’ commitment to fleet modernisation and operational enhancement to meet increasing travel demand, especially during the summer season. The new aircraft is expected to serve domestic routes such as Hanoi to Dalat, Hanoi to Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh City to Thanh Hoa, along with Ho Chi Minh City to Chu Lai.

This year, the delivery of Airbus A320neos will provide nearly 40,000 seats during the summer peak and 300,000 seats in the second half of the year.

The national flag carrier is also expected to receive new wide-body Boeing 787-10s in the near future. Boeing’s 787-10 is the largest member of the Dreamliner family and the largest passenger aircraft in Vietnam Airlines’ current fleet.

With continuous efforts to improve service quality and fleet, Vietnam Airlines will bring more convenience and comfort to its customers throughout every journey.
