Accio, Butterbeer! Harry Potter fans will have no problem using a summoning spell to grab the famous wizarding drink at Universal theme parks during the inaugural Butterbeer Season.
Coming to Universal’s Florida and California theme parks from March 15 to April 30, Butterbeer Season offers guests the chance to sample the iconic beverage in some new forms.
“Butterbeer Season is a new global franchise initiative to annually celebrate the flavor, scent and look of the iconic beverage fans will recognize from the magical wizarding world,” Universal said.
Butterbeer is already available in multiple forms at the parks: cold, hot, frozen and vegan, as well as in fudge, potted cream and ice cream.
During Butterbeer Season, limited-time treats will be released in California and Florida. That includes a Butterbeer-flavored “ice lolly,” or popsicle. Butterbeer caramels will make their debut at Universal Orlando Resort.
For a limited time, guests can purchase frozen Butterbeer in a collectible silver stein.
Also, Universal Studios Hollywood is introducing a Florean Fortescue’s ice cream counter within the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. (The ice cream shop is currently in the Universal Studios Florida park).
At Universal Studios Hollywood, Florean Fortescue’s is located inside Honeydukes; it will open on March 29 with ten soft-serve ice cream flavors served in a cup or waffle cone: Butterbeer (of course), banana, chocolate, mint, orange, vanilla, toffee nut, granny smith apple, pistachio and toffee apple.
Butterbeer is a Universal original. The recipe was crafted by executive chef Steve Jayson and his team for the parks’ Harry Potter-themed areas.
Universal describes the taste as “reminiscent of butterscotch and shortbread.”
