Taylor Swift received an “early birthday present” on Thursday when she won 10 trophies at the Billboard Music Awards.
The pop superstar, who turned 35 on Friday, recently wrapped her record-breaking Eras Tour, where she performed 149 shows across five continents. According to The New York Times, Swift’s tour sold more than $2 billion in tickets. It is the highest-grossing live music tour of all time.
At the BBMA, Swift took home trophies for Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Hot 100 Songwriter and Top Streaming Songs Artist. Her wins didn’t end there, as she won awards for Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Billboard Global 200 Artist, Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Artist and Top Billboard 200 Album. Swift’s new awards raised her total to a record 49 wins, breaking her tie with Drake and crowning her the most-rewarded artist in BBMA history.
“This is the nicest early birthday present you could have given me. So thank you very much. I love it. It’s exactly what I wanted,” the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” singer said via telecast.
Newsweek contacted a spokesperson for Swift for comment via email on Friday outside normal business hours.
At the beginning of the video messages, Swift said: “I just wanted to say hi and thank you. Thank you to the Billboard Award. Thank you to the fans because Billboard is counting your stuff. They’re counting what you listen to, the albums that you’re passionate about.”
“I count these as fan-voted awards because you guys are the ones who care about our albums and come see us in concert. Everything that’s happened with the Eras Tour and The Tortured Poets Department, I just have to say thank you. It means the world to me that you guys have embraced the things I’ve made, and the fact that you’ve cared so much about my music,” she continued.
Other winners on the night included country singer Morgan Wallen, who won four awards, including Top Country Artist, and first-time finalist Shaboozey, who won three.
Bad Bunny extended his historic reign as Top Latin Artist. Drake’s three victories cemented his status as the second most-rewarded artist in the show’s history, with 42 total wins.
Swift has had a mammoth two years. Since her tour began on March 17, 2023, she won her 14th Grammy and also picked up Album of the Year for the fourth time, a record for any artist. She also released an 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, which broke even more sales records and was recently nominated for the 2025 Grammy Awards.
With the Eras Tour now officially over, having wrapped on Sunday, fans are wondering what the pop superstar has in store—with some hoping that she will eventually announce another tour.
Marie Goldstein Levitsky, the co-founder of Fandom Daily, a website for superfans, previously told Newsweek that Swift’s next tour could be in a year or two.
“Taylor has spent much of her life on the road, and while the Eras Tour has been particularly monumental. She has always spoken with such warmth and positivity about the experience of touring,” she said.
“Even throughout this extraordinary journey, she’s expressed how deeply rewarding it is to connect with fans through live music. While I believe she’s earned a much-needed and well-deserved break, I have no doubt that her love for performing will bring her back to the stage, perhaps in just a year or two,” the self-identified devoted Swiftie continued.
How Much Has Taylor Swift Made From the Eras Tour?
When Swift began the Eras Tour, she was already one of the highest-earning entertainers in the world. At the time, her net worth was about $570 million, and within a few months, it jumped to $740 million, according to Forbes magazine.
Before 2023 concluded, the pop superstar reached billionaire status for the first time and was reported to be worth $1.1 billion. Swift is now worth $1.6 billion, meaning she almost tripled her net worth since embarking on the tour. While much of the revenue comes from ticket sales, Swift has plenty of income streams.
According to Forbes, Swift was “the first musician to make the billionaire ranking primarily based on her songs and performances.” Her fortune “includes nearly $600 million amassed from royalties and touring, plus a music catalog worth an estimated $600 million and some $125 million in real estate.”
Some industry experts have also estimated that merchandise sales have been a significant boon for Swift thanks to Eras, earning her $500 million since March 2023.
Adding to Swift’s net worth is the feature-length film of the tour, which became the highest-grossing concert movie of all time within days of its release—bringing in almost $262 million worldwide. Most of that box office total came from the U.S., where the film earned about $181 million.
