Overcompensating trailer: Benito Skinner goes wild as a closeted college jock

Are you ready to go back to college?

Benito Skinner, a.k.a. Benny Drama, is going back in the closet for his new comedy series Overcompensating, where he plays a college freshman trying to find his way in the world.

Overcompensating — from A24, Strong Baby, and Amazon MGM Studios — is a “college-set ensemble comedy about the wild, chaotic journey of Benny (Skinner), a closeted former football player and homecoming king, as he becomes fast friends with Carmen (Wally Baram), a high school outsider on a mission to fit in at all costs,” according a press release. “With guidance from Benny’s older sister (Mary Beth Barone) and her campus-legend boyfriend (Adam DiMarco), Benny and Carmen juggle horrible hookups, flavored vodka, and fake IDs. Deeply funny and personal, the show explores the lengths to which we all overcompensate while on the path to finding out who we really are.”

The trailer is filled with tons of classic college-age cringe, with a cappella groups, secret societies, lots of beer drinking, frat bros, and awkward first-time hookups.

Anyone who went to college or spent time trying to be someone they’re not will find plenty to relate to and plenty to laugh at.

The trailer is also stacked with incredible celeb guest stars, including Las Culturistas hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers as an unhinged gay couple, Charli XCX as herself, Lukas Gage, James Van Der Beek, and Megan Fox as a poster of Megan Fox!

Watch the hilarious trailer for Overcompensating below, which premieres May 15 on Prime Vido.
