According to Minnesota Twins owner Joe Pohlad, he and his group have no plans to sell the franchise, even in the wake of the Baltimore Orioles selling for more than $1 billion.
Last week, the Baltimore Orioles made waves as the Angelos family declared it was selling the O’s for more than $1 billion. With team values soaring and profits to be made, invariably, another team will eventually want to sell in the near future. The Minnesota Twins don’t plan on being one of those teams, according to a report in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
That’s certainly good news for fans in Minneapolis. While selling a team can yield a benefit, as the Orioles fans hope, it can also yield nervous and uncertain times. When a new owner comes in, you don’t really know the full intentions of the group. For instance, in the NBA, a new ownership group came in, gutted the Seattle SuperSonics, and then moved them to Oklahoma City. You just don’t know.
Luckily, for fans in the state of Minnesota, those unknown worries don’t appear to be something you have to be concerned about.
