Ghana now averaging 700 new Covid-19 cases daily – Akufo-Addo

Ghana has yet again reached another grim milestone as far as Covid-19 is concerned.

The country is currently averaging about 700 new infections daily while “hospitals have become full, and we have had to reactivate our isolation centres.”

This was revealed by President Akufo-Addo during his 23rd address to the nation on the measure adopted by the govenrnment to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus.

“Our average daily rates of infection now stand at 700, compared to 200 two weeks ago. The total number of active cases has more than doubled, from a little over 1,900, two weeks ago, to 5,358 currently,” he told the nation Sunday night.

Speaking during a televised address, the President further revealed that “hospitalisation rates are increasing, with the number of critically and severely ill persons now at 172.”

Currently all regions across the counrty have recorded active case of the novel coronavirus with 416 persons dead so far.

Ghana now has 5,358 active cases with “the number of critically and severely ill persons now at 172.”

Announcing the reinstatement of some restriction, he urged the citizenry to ensure compliance with all health protocols while the government does its bid to stem the virus’ spread.
