London’s five-star The Beaumont Mayfair will celebrate its 10th anniversary in September with the unveiling of a multimillion-dollar renovation.
Highlights include the addition of 29 new rooms and suites and the refurbishment of the existing 72 rooms, lobby, bar and restaurant.
The renovations also include the launch of Rosi, a new flagship restaurant serving up seasonal British comfort food and showcasing the murals British artist and designer Luke Edward Hall that tell the story of “a day in London.”
The property is retaining its art deco design and such amenities as the Art Deco Hammam and Spa; Gatsby’s Room, which serves Champagne Afternoon Tea; Le Magritte Bar, with its extensive bourbon collection, classic cocktails and Cuban cigars cabinet; and Terrace, an alfresco cafe in Brown Hart Gardens.
Abundant art
Suites include the three-story ROOM, designed by sculptor Anthony Gormley and featuring a giant figure based on the artist’s body, dark oak walls, a white marble bathroom and an exterior of welded plates of stainless steel.
Meanwhile, the presidential Roosevelt Suite has been redesigned with fabric-covered walls, bespoke furnishings, antique bronzed glass, silk window treatments and art deco furniture, along with a private terrace offering sweeping views of the city’s skyline.
Original artwork includes ceramics and glass dating from the 1930s, a portrait of Eleanor Roosevelt by Kate Boxer in the private entrance lobby and works by Alexander Calder and Robert Motherwell, as well as by contemporary artists Colin Reid and Rana Begum RA.
