Vienna Airport and Korean Air Cargo Mark Two Decades of Seamless Connectivity

Vienna Airport and Korean Air Cargo marked a significant milestone yesterday as they celebrated 20 years of partnership in the air cargo sector.

The anniversary event, held at the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, brought together key figures from both organizations and over 100 guests from various sectors including business, aviation, and tourism.

The collaboration, which began in April 2004 when the first Korean Air Cargo freighter landed in Vienna, has grown over the years, facilitating seamless connectivity between Asia and Europe.

The event was attended by Jaedong Eum, Head of Cargo Business Division at Korean Air Cargo, Myung Kyu Park, MVP Cargo Sales Department at Korean Air Cargo, Sangwook Ham, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Austria, and Julian Jäger, joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.

Julian Jäger expressed gratitude for the two decades of successful cooperation, highlighting Vienna Airport’s strategic location and excellent infrastructure as key factors in the partnership’s success. Jaedong Eum of Korean Air Cargo praised Vienna Airport’s role as a gateway for Korean businesses entering Eastern Europe and emphasized the importance of further strengthening the collaboration between the two companies.

The event also served as a platform to announce joint marketing initiatives aimed at boosting air cargo traffic between Seoul and Vienna. In February 2024, Korean Air Cargo and Vienna Airport signed an agreement to expand their cooperation and enhance service offerings for customers.

The evening culminated in an Austrian-Korean gala featuring musical entertainment by the Vienna Philharmonic and attended by prominent guests from both Austrian and Korean communities.

The celebration underscored the significance of the 20-year partnership in facilitating economic cooperation and people-to-people exchange between Korea and Austria.
