1,158 Covid19 cases recorded at KIA — GHS

A total of 1,158 confirmed cases of Covid-91 have been recorded at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The Ghana Health Service made this known to the media on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.

According to the Director General of GHS, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, who briefed the media at the Information Ministry, said as of February 5, 2021, a total of 157,678 test had been conducted among international passengers at KIA.

He said males accounted for 61 percent of the positive cases while females accounted for 39 percent.

According to him, non-Ghanaians who returned positive results at KIA constituted 59 percent of all positive cases while Ghanaian citizens accounted for 41 percent.

Meanwhile, the Minister-designate for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, said the Travel Restrictions at KIA have been revised.

According to him, Ghanaian Citizens will no longer be required to produce negative PCR test result before entering Ghana.

Also, he said the Government of Ghana will pay for all test of Ghanaian citizens coming back home and take care of their medical bills in the event that they test positive for Covid19 upon arriving. However, he said government will not be responsible to pay the bills of foreigners who test positive for Covid19 upon arriving in Ghana.
